Welcome welcome, Who am I ? I am Safiyya Kahan

safiyya header
Hi hi hi ^^, I am Safiyya Kahan and I'm from South Africa, Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN), Durban!!!

I am currently 15 years old and just recently discovered (drum roll plz) Digital Scrapbooking!! haha, you see I'm new at blogging and designing and finally decided to take my internet fetish to another level... WEB-DESIGNING LEVEL!!!
hehe, or scrapbooking level... Right now I am sitting with my MacBook Pro (laptop) and a huge (guiltily) slice of peacan pie (YUUUUUUmmy so Wah to the guilt!), a glass of apple juice. Right at this moment I am contemplating on how to get that little crumb of peacan pie out of my keyboard (nightmare!!)... so as I was saying, blogging is just a way for me to take my creativenosity to another league and trying to make this blog (my first one mind you) 'SUperr Super AWsUm!!!' for all you who view it. Okay so im sassy, witty, awsum, creative and realli fun to be with, I can make ur tummy ache from my humour and make you want to bungee jump even when u are afraid of heights! I'm cool and friendly but hate to be compared to anything, anyone, or realli just to be judged in a very 'critically' kind of way. I can be VERY Lazy!! and right now im feeling very tired... so for now you can go to my blog and read about the very beginning of my blogging life that mixes up with my reality and school life...

Robin Benway’s debut novel, Audrey, Wait!, completely blew me away! It’s about what happens to a teenage girl living a pretty typical life when her ex-boyfriend’s band suddenly shoots to worldwide fame, and his song about her–titled Audrey, Wait–is suddenly playing on radio stations around the world, and rising to the top of the charts. Suddenly, Audrey is famous. She definitely did not ask for fame; all she did was break up with her rather self-centered musician boyfriend. Now, however, she has to deal with the paparazzi and reporters who twist her words and her phone is ringing off the hook, and, well, she’s rather understandably overwhelmed.
Her best friend, Victoria, wants to take advantage of all this fame by getting free stuff and maybe getting Audrey a reality show, but all Audrey wants to do is go back to her normal life, to being able to go out in public without getting mobbed by screaming fans. Her fans–how is it that a girl who has never done anything fan-worthy can’t go out in the street anymore? And there are videos of her on the internet!
She’s also got a potential love interest in James, her co-worker at the Scooper Dooper. He’s kind of quiet and shy, but Victoria insists they’d be good together–that is, if he’ll actually talk to her about something other than work, and if they can handle the fact that if they go out, they’ll be all over the tabloids!
Audrey, Wait! is about sudden fame, yeah, but being about life in the spotlight isn’t really how I thought of this book. Mostly, it’s about a girl trying to hold onto her sanity in a crazy world! Despite her celebrity status, Audrey is a very relatable character, with a distinct, funny voice. This book was blurbed by Rachel Cohn, and her blurb–calling it “Awesomely funny, fresh, and true”–is right on! Also, Rachel Cohn fans will love this book.
Even the background characters are fantastic. Victoria and Jonah were so awesome and interesting and cool that I kind of wished there was a book about them, too! Three-dimensional background characters almost take over the story at times, but Audrey is too fantastic for that to happen. The writing, the characters, everything in this book is just perfect. I seriously can’t gush about it’s fabulousness enough! Nothing I say seems to really express how much I adore this book. Robin Benway is a brilliant writer. Audrey, Wait! is an unputdownable book about music, love, friendship, and life from an author to watch. It comes out in April, and when it does, I strongly suggest you get in your car, turn on your favorite music as loud as it can go, and get to your nearest bookstore as fast as you can!

Airhead , Being Nikki , Runaway By Meg Cabot

It’s about modeling. Gaming. And corporate greed. With hot guys. Oh, and a poodle. Airhead is the first book in a new trilogy by #1 New York Times best-selling author Meg Cabot. With Cabot’s signature wit, Airhead is pitch perfect for teen summer reading.

One day she’s a brainiac. The next she’s…not herself. Emerson Watts isn’t your average sixteen-year-old girl. She loves playing video games and hanging out with her best friend Christopher, and has made peace with her less-than-supermodel-esque looks. But when she’s involved in a mysterious accident, she finds herself…not herself at all. Who’s behind it? What’s their motive? And how can she get Christopher to realize she’s still the same person inside? One thing’s for sure: Em Watts is gone. Nikki Howard is here to stay.

Emerson Watts was pretty sure there couldn’t be anything worse than being a straight A student whose brain had been transplanted into the body of a teenage supermodel. But it turned out she was wrong: Because that supermodel could turn out to have a mother who’s mysteriously gone missing, a brother who’s shown up demanding answers, and a British heartthrob who’s written a song about her that’s topping the charts.

Now Em’s got to deal with all that, plus a lingerie fashion show, a crush who’s intent on destroying the company she works for to avenge the death of his lost love; and a boss that seems to be turning to the dark side….But then, nobody said it was going to be easy being Nikki.

High fashion with a touch of sci-fi. In Runaway, the dramatic conclusion to the bestselling and acclaimed Airhead novels by Meg Cabot, Emerson Watts is on the run: from school, from work, from her family, from her friends, from herself.

With everyone she loves furious with her for something she can’t explain, and nothing but the live Stark Angel fashion show on New Year’s Eve to look forward to, Em’s reached the end of the rope…what’s thepoint of even going on?

But when she discovers the truth about Nikki’s secret, she knows there’s only one person she can turn to. Will Christopher be able to put aside his personal feelings and help her expose her employer to the world? Is it even fair to get Christopher involved—since if he agrees, there’s every chance that Stark Enterprises will try to have them both killed—this time, permanently?

Maybe it would be better for Em to just keep on running…

Will her secret birthday wish come true?

‘I never sleep, the night before my birthday . . . it’s the only day of the year I hear from her . . .’
Dizzy’s mum left when she was small. But every year, on her birthday, something arrives in the post – a present or a card with her mum’s loopy writing on it. Dizzy has kept everything.
This year is different. Nothing comes in the post, but something amazing is about to arrive on Dizzy’s doorstep. Something that will whisk her away – and put Dizzy’s world in a spin.

Will Anya’s new beginning have a happy ending?

‘I’m excited about moving, but scared as well . . .’
Anya used to dream of moving to Britain to start a brand-new life. But as she sits in a school where nobody understands her, she dreams of Polish summer skies and the place where she once belonged.
Then Anya meets bad boy Dan. He’s no angel, but she’s sure there’s a sweeter side to him. And when things begin to fall apart, Anya realizes she’s not alone – how can Dan be such bad news when being with him feels like heaven?

Has Mouse met his match in new girl Cat?

‘Cat and Mouse,’ she says, grinning. ‘That’s cool!’
Mouse is doing his best to stay out of trouble. Cat is doing her best to land herself in it.
They’ve both had it pretty tough, so when they meet by chance, they thank their lucky stars. Weird and wonderful things happen when they’re together – but how long can it last? Because everyone has their secrets – and there can only be one winner in a game of cat and mouse. Can’t there?

Can wild child Scarlett ever settle down?

‘I’ll be different, I won’t break the rules . . . I promise’
Scarlett has got herself in trouble so often; her Mum’s no longer believes her promises. Sent off to stay with Dad, the message is behave or else!
Can Scarlett mend her ways or will she die of boredom? Perhaps gorgeous and mysterious local boy Kian can supply some of the answers . . .

Will shy girl Jude ever share her secrets?

‘Don’t get me wrong, I love my family – but mum is forty-four going on fourteen . . .’
Jude’s family are crazy, quirky, bizarre . . . her mum brings her plenty of problems and her dad thinks he’s Elvis! All she wants is a hassle-free life – but it’s not easy when she’s chasing her mum’s trail of broken promises.
Nothing seems to go Jude’s way, until she realizes the floppy-haired boy from school could be her knight on shining rollerblades. And that sometimes, when everything turns sour, only something sweet can make it ok . . .

Once upon a time, all was well in the Flores household, until the unexpected death of Lina's mother. To deal with his loss, Lina's father buries himself in books.

Next door, the Cantus are not faring any better. Lina's best friend, Vanessa, must bear with her mother's self-prescribed therapy after her divorce: making confetti-filled cascarones out of eggshells. Every day.

The girls are able to tolerate their parents' coping mechanisms at first. Then, Mr. Flores begins to pressure his daughter to excel academically ("Why does he have to turn everything -- even a volleyball game! --into a vocabulary lesson?"), and Mrs. Cantu begins to impose her distrust of men on her daughter ("Delicate flowers have no business hanging out with weeds").

Because Lina and Vanessa are at an age when boys are more interesting than school, they devise a plan to pursue their own romantic interests by fixing up their single parents with each other. But the plan soon turns sour when Lina's crush on "the best-looking egghead in Corpus Christi" doesn't develop as smoothly as Vanessa's. When Vanessa begins to choose her new boyfriend's company over Lina's, Lina is left "feeling like a sitcom that's been cancelled for a snazzier show."

In addition, Mr. Flores and Mrs. Cantu end up being a better match than the girls expected, and this makes Lina realize that she hasn't quite dealt with her mother's absence -- or her father's, for that matter -- these past few years. Suddenly, she feels abandoned, neglected and cheated by all those she loves.

These hard lessons, however, become navigable through the series of coping devices Lina adapts: the list of wise dichos her mother taught her, and a fabricated plot summary of a book she never read, in which she's able to detail her heartbreaks and anxieties. Eventually, Lina makes sense of her chaotic adolescence and she's able to transform her rotten-egg days into colorful cascarones.

Raven by Allison Van Diepen

"The door that was always closed is opening, and I am consumed. I don’t know if a full minute goes by that I don’t think of him, that I don’t replay how it felt to have his hand brush mine, his eyes look my way.

And yet he’s hiding, still. He talks as if my feelings for him are in the past, as if they couldn’t possibly be relevant now that I know the truth about him. But I don’t have that kind of power over how I feel. And if he doesn’t know that, he’s blind."

Zin dances with fire in every step, speaks with a honey-sweet voice, and sees with eyes that can peer into your soul. It's no wonder Nicole is madly in love with him. Their friendship is the only thing that saves her from the boredom of school and the turmoil of her family life. But she cannot understand why he keeps her at a distance, even though she can feel his soul reaching out for hers. Zin carries a very old secret. When Nicole uncovers the truth, her love may be the only thing that can save him from it.
